Using Dictation Tool for Reporting
Use of Cimar's inbuilt Voice Recognition software requires an additional 3rd party license. If you're interested in a license please contact support@cimar.co.uk for more information.
For users with VR enabled on their account, a 'Dictate' button will be visible at the bottom of the reporting suite. Clicking this button will activate your microphone and access permissions may need to be granted.
To start reporting:
1. Select the relevant text box that you wish to populate with text and press 'Dictate' to begin reporting.
2. Your words will transcribe into the selected field automatically and If required, you can manually edit the text after finishing your recording.
3. To stop recording, simply click the dictate/microphone button again.
Note - when the "Dictate" button has been clicked, recording and transcription will continue into the previously selected text box whilst you interact with the viewer.
Adjusting Microphone Permissions:
To check the microphone is working and allowed access, go to the browser settings.
In the Google Chrome browser, click the 3 dots in the top right corner to open the settings.
On the settings page first click "Privacy and security" in the menu on the left and then select "Site settings".
Here you can now see a list of the websites that have different access on your device. Select the Cimar site and you can now adjust settings.
Make sure the microphone settings is set to "Allow". Alternatively if you set it to "Ask" you will receive a pop-up from the browser asking for permission once you click "Dictate" as described above.
Using External Microphone:
It is possible to use an external microphone instead of the in-built one. Most devices will automatically switch the settings when plugging in the microphone but should you wish to manually change between them, the settings can be found here:
Windows settings:
System settings:
Sound settings:
Here you can manually change the "Input" settings between the available microphones on your device:
Once it's changed, it will automatically save and you can use the selected microphone in Cimar.
