Multi-Monitor Support

With Cimar's Multi-Monitor Support you can view studies across multiple screens and take advantage of all the powerful tools of the ProViewer suite on your full workstation.

Activating Multi-Monitor support requires a few simple steps.

Activating the ProViewer.

The ProViewer must be activated for this tool to work.

If you currently do not have this activated or are unsure, please follow this guide to turn it on in your account:

ProViewer Setup Guide

Installing Ambra Health Chrome Extension

A very quick browser installation is required for the multi-monitor feature to run and this all must be done in Google Chrome browser.
(Firefox, Edge, Safari or other browsers unfortunately don't support this tool currently)

This installation takes only a couple of minutes to complete.

  1. Open the ProViewer (This can be done with any study as you just need access to the settings for now)
  2. Press "Settings" in the toolbar
  3. Press "Hanging Protocols" in the left hand side menu
  4. Press "Install Multi-Monitor Support" on the left hand side of the Hanging Protocols settings.
  5. This will open a new tab with Google's "Chrome Web Store" to an extension called "Ambra Health". Press "Add to Chrome"
  6. This will cause a small popup asking for confirmation. Press "Add Extension"

You should now see this in the top right corner of your browser.

That's it. The extension for Multi-Monitor Support has now been installed.

Activating Multi-Monitor Support

  1. Follow steps 1-3 from the previous section again to open the "Hanging Protocols" settings.
  2. Press "Add Hanging Protocol" on the right side

  3. Enter a name for the new protocol in the highlighted "Name" field on the left. This can be anything you want but for this demo we've gone with "Multi-Screens".
(All these settings can be changed in the future by revisiting "Hanging Protocols" so no need to worry about all other options for now.
The "Modality" dropdown can be used to build pre-sets depending on image type if you wish to have multiple hanging protocols activated later with different settings)
  4. Press "Add Screen" below the grey input field.
  5. The placement option for Screen 1 can be changed with this dropdown, but it's not relevant until the 2nd monitor.
  6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 as many times as you wish to add more screens.
For each screen you add, you can choose a name, a placement in relation to the others and a default layout of columns and rows.
(All these settings can be changed and updated as needed at any time in the "Hanging Protocols" settings so there's no need to make final decisions now.)
  7. Once you have added all your needed screens for imaging press the blue "Save" text in the top right of the settings.

Using The Tool:

Now your multi-monitor support settings are ready to go and will be active when you open any new study in the Pro Viewer.

Please note when opening the viewer it MUST be in a new window for the tool to activate. If you open the viewer in the same window you will get the following message in the top right corner:
To open the viewer in a new tab, press the little blue arrow next to the viewer icon and select "Open with Study Viewer in New Tab".
Once the viewer opens in a new tab, it will automatically fit itself to all activated screens and if "Full Screen" has been set it will also activate that.
(Please note to turn off full screen you will have to press Ctrl-F11 on Windows or Command-Control-F on Mac.)

If you do not see an option to open the viewer in a new tab, please contact support@cimar.co.uk and one of our engineers will be happy to help activating it on your account.

Dual Screen with Automatic MPR Example:

For this example we set up a hanging protocol that will automatically open MPR on the main screen and a grid display of remaining imaging on secondary monitor.

Note that MPR will only work if the relevant measures are included in the DICOM data.

  1. Click "Add Hanging Protocol":
  2. Assign a name to the protocol ("Dual Monitor" in this example):
  3. Click "Add Screen" twice so it defaults to "Screen 2":
  4. Adjust Settings for Screen 2 (Name: "Secondary Monitor", Placement: "Right", Columns: "2", Rows: "2"):
This will add a 2x2 grid on a secondary monitor to the right (based on your device's monitor settings) where up to 4 series will be displayed.
  5. Adjust Settings for Screen 1 (Name: "MPR Screen", Placement: "Primary", Columns: "1", Rows: "1", MPR Auto: "Enabled"):
This will set up the primary screen to start with a single image series but once fully loaded it will adjust into MPR mode.

With the above example setup, the viewer will automatically open in fullscreen across two monitors with the primary screen containing the MPR and the secondary screen containing up to 4 other series' from the study.
